It is wise to ensure e-mails/DMs to people about are both personalised and short. That way you are more likely to get a positive response. It is best to assume that people you contact are very busy, so anything that is easy to respond to is more likely to be dealt with. Although it’s more time consuming, both fans and people in the music industry are more likely to warm to you if they feel that the message is not just a standard communication.
